Privacy statement

Thank you for your interest in our website. The protection of your privacy is very important to us. In the following we offer detailed information on how we handle your data.

Storage of access data in server log files

You can visit our website without the need to provide any personal data. The only data we save in so-called server log files are access data, such as the name of the requested file, date and time of access, quantity of the transferred data and the requesting provider. This data is exclusively evaluated for ensuring error-free operation of the website and for improving our online range, and cannot be traced back to you.

Data collection and usage for completing contracts and opening customer accounts

We collect personal data if you voluntarily provide this data in the context of an order, when contacting us (e.g. using the contact form or by email) or when opening a customer account. The data that is collected can be viewed in the respective input forms. We use the data provided by you to complete the contract and to process your requests. Once the contract is fully complete or your account has been deleted, your data is blocked from further usage and deleted once tax and trade law-related retention periods have expired, unless you have expressly agreed to further usage of your data or we have reserved the right to further usage of the data to the extent permitted by law. The latter is detailed below. It is possible to delete your customer account at any time. You can do this by sending a message to the contact service described below or by using the feature provided for this in the customer account.

Data transfer for completing the contract

To complete the contract, we forward your data to the shipping company tasked with your shipment, to the extent that this is required for the delivery of your ordered goods. For processing payments, we forward the payment data required to do so to the credit institution tasked with payment and, if necessary, to the payment service provider commissioned by us or to the payment service selected by you during the order process.

Data usage when registering for the email newsletter

If you register for our newsletter, we will use the data that is required for this or that is specially provided by you in order to regularly send you our email newsletter. You can cancel this subscription at any time by either sending a message to the contact service described below or by clicking the link in the newsletter provided for this purpose.

Data usage for postal advertising and your right to object

Furthermore, we reserve the right to save in summarised lists your first and last names, your postal address and - to the extent that we have received these additional details from you in our contractual relationship - your title, academic degree, birth year and professional designation, and to use this information for our own advertisement purposes, e.g. sending relevant offers and information on our products by post. You can object to the storage and use of your data for these purposes at any time by sending a message to the contact service described below.

To make your visit to our website enjoyable and to enable the usage of certain functions, we use so-called cookies on several pages. Cookies are small text files that are saved on your device. Some of the cookies used by us are deleted upon finishing the browser session, i.e. once you close your browser ("session cookies"). Other cookies remain on your device and enable us to recognise your browser on your next visit ("persistent cookies"). You can configure the settings in your browser to inform you when a website uses cookies and accept each one individually, or to reject cookies in certain instances or altogether. Use of Google Analytics for web analysis

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service from Google Inc. (www.google.com). Google Analytics uses so-called cookies, i.e. text files, which are saved on your computer and enable the analysis of your usage of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your usage of our website is generally transferred to a Google server in the USA and is saved there. If IP anonymisation is activated on this website, your IP address will however first be abbreviated by Google in EU/EEA member states. Only in exceptional circumstances will your full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and abbreviated there. IP anonymisation is active on this website. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your usage of the website to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services related to website and internet usage for the website operator. The IP address communicated by your browser for Google Analytics will not be combined with other data from Google. You can prevent the storage of cookies using the relevant settings in your browser, however we draw your attention to the fact that you will not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent if you do this.

You can also prevent Google from collecting the data that is generated by the cookie and is related to your usage of the website (including your IP address), as well as Google processing this data, by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available through the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en-GB

As an alternative to the browser plug-in, you can click this link to prevent Google Analytics from collecting data on our website in the future. An opt-out cookie will then be placed on your device for this purpose. If you delete your cookies, you will have to click this link again.

Credit check and rating

If a service is conducted or goods provided in advance, e.g. buying on credit, we reserve the right to collect identity and credit information from a service provider specialised in this (credit agencies), for our own justified interests.

The credit check can contain probability scores (ratings), which are calculated using academically recognised mathematical and statistical methods. Address data, amongst other information, is used for this calculation. We use the information received on the statistical probability of a payment default for a balanced decision on the formation, completion or termination of a contractual relationship. Your interests that need protecting are taken into account in accordance with legal provisions.
